HBCU: Historically Black Colleges and Universities

As the "seed" universities for each state were created by which people could sign up, the story of Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas, converting its football field into a garden struck a cord with this reformer. When formulating his "Cavegarden" program, he dedicated it to Bordentown MTIS--the Tuskeegee of the North where work and education went hand-in-hand. With a sense of historical justice for the future of equality, this reformist spent an extra day planting public HBCUs as part of the seeded schools. Some could not be found on-line and are thus missing in the seeds.
