How do I get transferred to another clinic and another doctor? I have become displeased with my present provider for the following reason. At our last meeting, he authorized a renewal of my six-month prescription for Providgal/Mofinil to treat my narcolepsy. This is the same drug prescribed widely to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan to keep them awake and alert. In my case, I fall asleep within sixty seconds after a certain long yawn. While I think modifinil is not the best medicine for my condition, it is better than nothing.
When I went to re-fill my prescription, I was told it was expired despite my last bottle having listed six fills in total. Why was my prescription canceled?
When I inquired via a letter to my primary provider, I received a phone call with a scheduled appointment in ? weeks. Thus, I am without my stay awake medicine for over a month. Furthermore, the telephone message said that the doctor wanted to discuss "issues" with me. It was not to discuss my health condition nor my health issues but "issues." A review of current usage of "issues" indicates that my provider, in conjunction with canceling my medicine, has some problems with me, err, I mean, issues.
I believe that my complaining about bad treatment at the V.A. (copies enclosed) has resulted in a data track that is increasing excluding me from fair and equal treatment. This is not only a violation of stated V.A. policy but of federal healtcare laws.
Therefore, I wish to be assigned to another clinic and physician. I direct this to General ? because I have found the director of the McGuire VA clinic to be insensitive and inconsiderate of my growing complaints, e.g., the glasses, see below. I know that the tendency of bureaucracies is to marginalize complainers regardless of the validity of the complaint, e.g., soviet psychiatric incarceration for political dissidents. Like prisons, it is cheaper to incriminate or incarcerate rather than change and improve the bureaucracy.
Based on some other incidences (including obvious violations of HIPAA) culminating in the telephone message on the need to discuss my "issues" I believe that I have been tagged in the V.A. data system as a problem- or trouble-maker. What have I done? Complain about the four blood-takers refusing to take my blood when I feel asleep and missed my number--nice, being punished for being medically challenged. Narcolepsy should be incorporated into ADA. From that point everything has gone downhill for me at the V.A. The manner in how my original complaint was handled can be summarized in the following: ....
I am loathe to complain further for fear of more service shortfalls or worse. However, I believe ...
So, I am faced with a choice. No healthcare or suspect healthcare. I feel like the protagnist in Kafka's The Trial. I see changes affecting my freedoms with no viable options accept submission and subjection.
