Analogies: Reality or Misleading

People often think that if they can cite an analogy that they have confirmed a reality. This is like people thinking reality has been affirmed if they can cite a cliche even if a refuting cliche exists: He who hesitates is lost and Haste makes waste. Even worse is the person who thinks that citing a Biblical passage establishes a truth of reality. Less specific is the person or sorority/fraternity that self-proclaims their self-importance as a matter of reality. Clearly, what people think is not always real despite the flow or flood words. This is true of analogies.
