FRANKFORT John Berry, 58, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2007, in Bagdad,
Kentucky. Born in Frankfort, Kentucky and a long-time resident of Cincinnati,
Ohio, John leaves behind his mother, Mildred Berry (Frankfort), sister Kathie
Jeffries (Simpsonville, Kentucky), brother Stanley T. Berry III (Houston,
Texas), sons Michael Berry (Cincinnati) and Joseph Berry (Frankfort), daughters
Rebekah Berry and Amelia Berry (Cincinnati), grandchildren Aidan and Sabine
Berry (Cincinnati), and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley T. Berry Jr. of Frankfort.
John graduated from Franklin County High School before joining the U.S. Navy
and later earning an Associates Degree in Linguistics from the University
of Kentucky. During the 1970s, he worked for the Catholic Worker movement
in New York City and Cincinnati. For over 20 years, he drove a cab in Cincinnati,
where he enjoyed conversing with his customers and getting to know his fellow
Cincinnatians. Passionate about social justice, he was vehemently opposed
to the war in Iraq.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Frankfort
at 2 p.m. Friday. The family will be available for visitation at the church
beginning at 1 p.m. ?Following the service, guests are invited to join Johns
family at the residence of Joseph Berry (directions to be provided at the
